Many people want to know how to make money online from a website. And I can give you a short answer: Advertisements! Is it really that simple, serving ads on a website, and make money ?
Basically, yes is it. Place text-links on your site, and a small percentage of your visitors will click on the ads, and this earns you a few cents up to a couple of dollars! These are contextual PPC (Pay Per Click) ads.
Another way to make money is to refer your visitor directly to an affiliated webstore, and earn commissions over the purchases they make. This is called affiliate marketing.
But having a successful website, and actually earning a decent amount of money from the advertisements may sound easier then it really is. There so are many things to consider. First of all you need to have a website, and you need to know how to edit the HTML codes. Then you’ll need to learn about promotion and search engine optimization.
And not to forget, you need to fill your website with content. This is actually the most important thing to do. Write content that is both useful to your visitors, and optimized for the search engines at the same time.
When you’ve learned all these techniques you will soon be ready to welcome a steady flow of visitors to your site. Now your job is to optimize your site, and to grow your incoming traffic.

If you have around $7 for a dotcom name, or less for an .info you could setup your first real website. There is free hosting available (search google), or you could start with a small paid hosting package for very little money. Now build your website. use simple HTML code, or install a blog platform with free scripts such as this wordpress blog.
What about a PTR Site?
Many PTR members think that owning a PTR Program would make tons of money, and that the people behind these programs must be really wealthy and rich. This is not particularly true. Most PTR program owners hardly make any decent money. Except for those who own large families of PTR sites, and operate other kinds of GPT and affiliate sites as well.
